About me
I am currently a lecturer with the Faculty of Science at the University of Hong Kong. I am teaching Biostatistics and a range of Common Core courses in a wide range of subjects such as bioogy, statistics and maths. My main teaching interests include ecology, conservation biology and statistics.
My research interests were focused on conservation biology and the means to best achieve conservation outcomes. I am particularly interested in population dynamics of amphibians; how threatening processes interact with populations and communities; and evidence-based conservation. I think these fields can be most efficiently studied through both field-based research and the analysis of available data, which is accumulating at a much faster rate than it is analysed. For this reason, I have a very keen interest in the use of novel statistical methods for the analysis of ecological data. I almost exclusively use R for my analyses (and graphs, I love graphs) and Python for data mining and computation.
